Welcome to your online resource for fabric and fabric care information. Use this guide as a general rule only!

cotton fabric Cotton Fabric Care- Cotton is the most common fabric in our life. It comes in many patterns and colors and is used for everything. Cotton has a tendency to wrinkle very easily, so cotton/polyester blends are popular. Cotton is machine washed and tumbled dried at high temperature. White cotton can be chlorine bleached.
linen fabric Linen Fabric Care: Use a gentle wash cycle and avoid using bleach to protect linens. White linens should be dried in sun to help them keep their whiteness (our grannies did it this way). Like cotton does linen creases easily that’s why it needs firm pressing when ironed. 65% linen/35% polyester blends are becoming popular for handkerchiefs and tablecloths
Polyester Fabric Polyester Fabric Care: Polyester is a synthetic fiber that is relatively easy to care about. It is strong, durable, machine-washable and tumbled- dryable. Iron with moderate temperature. Some polyester fabrics are dry- clean only. For best results refer to labels sewn inside the garment.
Rayon Fabric Rayon Fiber Rayon Description and Rayon Fabric Care: Rayon is cellulose fiber, and its fabric is soft and tender and absorbs well. Rayon can be either machine-washed or dry cleaned only depending on the finishing stages of its manufacturing. For specific instructions look at the care labels sewn inside the garment.
Nylon Fabric Nylon is generally machine-washable and tumbled dried at low temperature. Use softener at the final washing rinse cycle. Never use a scouring powder and remove from the tumble dryer as soon as the cycle is over to prevent from wrinkling.
Silk Fabric Silk Fabric Care. Some silk fabrics can only be dry cleaned. Only pre-shrinked by washing is washable. Always refer to care labels inside before buying any silk garment. Hand-wash silk items in lukewarm water with mild detergent. Do not chlorine bleach.
Acrylic Fabric Acrylic Fabric Care. Acrylic fiber is a synthetic fiber that is relatively easy to care about. Machine wash Acrylic fabric using warm water, softener may be added during the final rinse cycle. Machine dry using low temperature; remove as soon as the drying is done.
Acetate Fabric Acetate Fabric Care, Acetate Fiber Description: Acetate is a synthetic fiber with shiny silky appearance. It doesn’t absorb moisture and is usually dry clean only. Acetate fabric is used a lot in the apparel industry as clothing lining and knitted clothing. Acetate knits can be handwashed in warm water with mild soap or detergent. Knits should be laid flat to dry.
Wool Fiber Wool fiber description. Wool Fabric Care: wool fibers will discard wrinkles and return to their original shape if you let wool garments rest between wearing. Brush the surface of wool garments to remove dust and soil. Delicate wool fabrics should be cleaned with damp sponge to remove the stains and dust. Keep the moths away from wool fabrics with the use of cedar blocks.
Lyocel Fabric Lyocell also known by its brand name Tencel is a new cellulose fiber from wood cellulose. Lyocell can be either hand washed or machine washed and tumbled dried successfully but some fabrics are most durable when dry-cleaned. For best performance see the garment care labels inside the clothing.
Spndex Spandex and Lycra are advanced technology fibers. Hand wash or gentle circle machine wash in lukewarm water. Do not chlorine bleach, use only non-chlorine on garments that contain spandex. Dry at low temperatures and iron quickly at low temperature.
